A work flow for a blog-centric, social media strategy
The following flow chart outlines the components and work flow of a blog-centric social media engagement strategy. This strategy is based on the idea that if you add value to the marketplace by creating timely and valuable content, then you can drive traffic to your site and build your reputation. While the strategy is blog centric, it pulls on additional social media vehicles to maximize the relevance and reach of the blog. You could integrate more pieces into this strategy, but this approach is relatively simple and solid.
I could have turned this into a beautiful vector infographic like this Flickr ecosystem, but I thought it would deceive people into thinking that this strategy is fully baked. I chose to include the scanned version from my sketchbook to be true to what this strategy is, a gooey idea. An idea that will need to take on different shapes to meet unique needs. An idea that will need to be regularly improved upon from the moment you first set it up.
The reason I’m sharing this is because many business professionals are feeling the pressure to participate on the social web. If you are like three quarters of the executives feeling the heat, you are vaguely familiar with it. Whether you are on the hot seat to deploy a social media program or required to engage with one; having an overview of the process can accelerate your learning curve. Hopefully this flow chart does that for you.
It’s high-res, so you can click on it to see it larger and/or print a copy.
I love this kind of stuff, so please feel free to ask me questions.

This is a great foundation for me as a blogger and (future) consultant. I could definitely build off of this and personalize it to my tastes a little. Very useful Justine and thanks for sharing it.
Right on, Corvida! If you come up with some cool additions and/or tweaks, let me know
This is so true because I *TRY* to tell the suits to get into social media and now some I know are realizing the value (a little) but it will take time. Thank you for sharing! I agree with @corvida’s sentiments 100%!
Jennifer, I struggle with the suits as well.
I’ll be posting some arguments that have been helpful for me during the convincing period. Hopefully they can be of use to you!
We’ve adapted your flow chart and are setting up to use something quite similar in our company. Thanks for the inspiration and letting us stand on your shoulders
