Hacking a MySpace account

Have you ever seen your friend post a bulletin on MySpace about how they made a $1,000 on the weekend? It’s the first sign your friend’s MySpace account has been hacked. Maybe you’ve had your MySpace account hacked and would like to know what you can do to prevent it from happening again in the future. Then this post is for you.

Phishing

Most people have their account hacked by clicking on a stranger’s profile only to be taken to what looks like the MySpace login screen. Turns out it’s not a MySpace login screen and the username and password you just entered is saved for future use by the bad guys. The biggest thing is if you find yourself suddenly sent to the login page when you haven’t signed out, look at the url and make sure it says myspace.com in the address bar. If it has happened to you, you should be able to remedy the problem by simply changing your password watching for the proper web address in the future. Netcraft explains MySpace phishing sites in detail.

Viruses

Another way people have their account hacked is from malware installed on their system that records their keystrokes. This is an uncommon problem for MySpace accounts because people looking to watch your keystrokes wouldn’t risk the legal trouble for MySpace accounts. They’d much rather take your bank account or something more valuable. If you change your password repeated times and you keep getting hacked, then you may have a virus and you’ll need to reinstall your operating system and start over.

Other

People can also think their account was hacked if they neglect to log out and someone uses the computer after them. So be sure to logout and not just close the window, especially if you’re at a library, internet cafe, or the like.

This is an old MySpace hacking technique. It doesn’t work anymore, but it was a huge exploit.

If you are wanting to hack into someone else’s account, there is a possible exploit, which you can learn from the last paragraph in my post about what to do if your MySpace has been hacked. Please note that this kind of behavior will get you banned from MySpace and could result in legal action against you.

Actually myspace phishing page could be hosted on myspace.com domain, right in someone’s profile.. all you need is some clever CSS.

Now I haven’t been doing much myspace hacking (on the account that myspace sucks), but I was able to completly overload a LiveJournal account with CSS alone.

So it’s best to have a Firefox plugin that checks that the forms you are filling out are not being submited to an external domain.

perhaps someone can have a meaningful interaction with them. I don’t condone hacking into someone’s MySpace account and this article was more aimed at letting people know what to do if their account has been hacked and how to avoid it in the future.

Generally hackers aren’t the ones “hacking” into your accounts. Most of the time the people that “hack” your account actually phished your password. The typical scenario is that you see some cute girls pic on a profile somewhere, you click on her pic to check out her profile then click on “View more pics” and you land on what you think is the MySpace login page. However, it’s not the real MySpace login page, it’s a fake page that looks identical to the real one and when you enter your username and password, you’ve just told the haxor your login info. Most of the time people hack your account not to mess with you, rather they send out bulletins pretending to be you in order to dupe your friends. These people get paid to send out the bulletins from the compromised accounts. Often times they’ll change your password in order to prevent you from changing your own password after you discover your account is compromised.

If someone is hacking your account to fuck with you, most likely it’s from you not logging out when you were over at your friends house, or you told someone your password, or your password is totally predictable (like your birthday, name of your girlfriend, or something someone could guess).

I wouldn’t care so much if she avoided me but she is genuinly nice to my face then bitches no end to my other friends trying to turn them againt me.

Then she turns things around as if it’s all my fault!!

e.g. She will one day decide to stop talking to me, and make up crap behind my back, but when i get upset about it, or confront her, suddenly i’m the one that stopped talking to her, or did something to make her not talk to me.

And its always me, never our other friends.

But clearly we are right and she is deluded.
