The Beer and Blog family expands to include two more people and two more chapters

January 6 2009, 9:04pm

Last week we announced the addition of Michelle to the Portland Chapter as the Chapter Provost. This week we’re proud to announce the addition of two more people to Beer and Blog: Kelly Guimont as Mistress of Organizer Affairs, and Christine Kistner in charge of Development. Most of you know Kelly as @verso on Twitter. You may not know that she is active in the Portland tech community as a participant in many events, including Volunteer Coordinator at Ignite Portland and as an organizer of WordCamp Portland. As the Mistress of Organizer Affairs she will help new chapters get up and running as well as ensure communication between the organizers is flowing smoothly. Christine is bringing her financial background and strong support to Beer and Blog by leading the charge on Development. That means she’ll be helping obtain and distribute swag, coordinate sponsorships, and assist with marketing. She is almost done with her degree in Visual Effects and Motion Graphics from the Art Institute of Portland. She is following her dreams after 4 years in banking. Please also welcome our two newest chapters: St. Louis and Eugene. Beer and Blog St. Louis will be hosted by Lisa, who many of you may remember as a sponsor of Cyborg Camp. We geeked out for about an hour about the inspiration she got from the Portland scene, some politics, and some blogging. She has some awesome ideas about incorporating many of the non-tech members of the St. Louis community to introduce them to the spirit of Beer and Blog. Looking forward to seeing where they go with it. BTW, is there good beer in St. Louis?
Beer and Blog Eugene will be co-hosted by Rob and Dave. They are planning to hold the meet ups at East 19th Street Cafe. In his request email, Rob said: Yes! We want to empower a vibrant local creative and development community, and, between Dave and myself, we already know many people who would be very into a Beer and Blog type gathering. So it’s on like Donkey Kong. Keep your eye on their blogs to find out more such as the meet up time and deeper contact details, such as a Twitter account.
